Bone Densitometry

Normal hormonal changes associated with post-menopausal aging can result in decreased bone density or osteoporosis. Women with decreased bone density are susceptible to fractures and other skeletal changes.

Bone densitometry is a simple, painless, non-invasive test that diagnoses and monitors osteoporosis and accurately assess changes in bone mass. Any woman over the age of 65, or who have an increased risk for osteoporosis due to family history or low body weight, should consider making this test part of their routine healthcare.

The bone densitometry test is one of our women's health services offered at the Breast Care Center.
