Emergency Medicine Services


We're here when you need us 24/7 — delivering state-of-the-art emergency care while making sure your visit is handled as efficiently and comfortably as possible. Treatment begins at our triage desk where each patient's condition is quickly assessed by a trained medical professional.

Good Samaritan Hospital's Emergency Department responds to more than 30,000 visits each year. Our staff includes specialized physicians, trauma teams and registered nurses — all highly experienced in caring for patients at all levels of need. The registered nurses here have been certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support and Neonatal Resuscitation. They've also been trained in Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum, Rural Trauma Team Development and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.


Our 20-bed treatment facility is designed to provide more privacy for patients, while enhancing medical care. A number of rooms are specially equipped to handle specific types of emergencies including trauma, orthopedic, obstetric, critical care, and psychiatric. We also have a pediatric-friendly room with equipment that's just the right size for younger patients.

To maximize efficiency, radiology and x-ray services are available within the Emergency Department.

Patients who are admitted to Good Samaritan Hospital, but who don't have a family doctor may be assigned to a hospitalist. Our hospitalists are internists who specialize in the care of hospitalized patients.

General Visitation Guidelines

Although the patient's condition determines if visitors will be allowed, two visitors are usually welcome to stay with a patient during an Emergency Room visit. Children under age 14 will need special permission from a staff member to enter treatment areas.

Visitors should stay clear of the hallways when they are in the treatment area. This protects the privacy of all patients and enables staff to move freely.

Food and drink are not permitted in treatment rooms. Patients who are waiting to be admitted to a treatment room should consult with a nurse before eating or drinking since food or liquids might delay or affect certain tests.

For the convenience and comfort of our patients, pillows, blankets and televisions are available.
