Parks and Recreation

With a beautiful rural setting, Knox County is a great place for people who love the great outdoors. With eleven public lakes and ponds nearby, as well as the White and Wabash rivers and hundreds of wooded acres, the area is a paradise for hunting and fishing. Nearby accomodations for other outdoor sports enthusiasts include snow skiing, hiking, boating and water skiing, among others.
Knox county is also home to several lush parks. Gregg Park, in the heart of Vincennes, has playgrounds, walking trails, tennis courts, bandstand and a large swimming pool, as well as a brick shelterhouse.
Kimmel Park, near Vincennes University, offers magnificent views of the Wabash River, a boat launch and campground. Ouabache (pronounced "Wabash") is just two miles north of Vincennes on the banks of the Wabash River. It offers four miles of marked trails, playgrounds, picnic areas, rental cabins, camping and a nature center.
