Health Screenings Offered by Community Health Services

ABI– The ankle-brachial index (ABI) is a simple, noninvasive tool used to screen for peripheral arterial disease (PAD).  The ABI test compares the blood pressure in the feet to the blood pressure in the arms to determine how well blood is flowing in the legs. If an ABI reveals an abnormal ratio between the blood pressure of the ankle and arm, it suggests you may have PAD and a higher risk of coronary artery and carotid artery disease.

Blood Sugar (finger stick) – Measures the amount of sugar in the blood by puncturing the finger with a lancing device.

Blood Pressure – A blood pressure cuff is used to measure the pressure of the blood within the arteries.

Body Fat Composition – A fat analyzer is used to determine body composition which is defined as the amount of body fat in proportion to lean tissue in the body.

Body Mass Index (BMI) – A measure that utilizes an individual’s weight and height in order to determine optimal weight for best health.

EZ Detect Stool Kit Test (Colorectal cancer screening kit) – Take-home stool kit test to detect blood in the stool.

Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR)/Creatinine – Blood screening test to determine kidney function.

Glucose – Blood screening test to determine amount of sugar in the blood.

Grip strength – A hydraulic hand dynamometer is used to determine hand grip strength.

Lipid Profile – Blood screening test to determine cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL (good cholesterol), and LDL (bad cholesterol) levels.

Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) – Blood screening test for prostate cancer.

One-on-one education is provided regarding each of these screenings.
