Women in this community benefit from digital mammography, which enables our physicians and staff to detect and treat breast cancer early and accurately. We are one of less than 1,000 health care centers nationwide to offer digital mammography.
Your physician may request an ultrasound of the breast as follow-up to your mammogram. This painless, non-invasive procedure can provide information in addition to the findings of the mammogram.
Your physician may request a Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) when mammogram or ultrasound results are inconclusive. BSGI will aid in the diagnosis of breast cancer, detecting early stages of cancer as small as a grain of sand.
If an abnormality appears on your mammogram, further tests may be necessary to rule out a serious health concern. In many cases, additional mammograms or other imaging techniques can be used, but sometimes a biopsy is required. Three types of bipsy procedures can be utilized.
Normal hormonal changes associated with post-menopausal aging can result in decreased bone density or osteoporosis. Women wiht decreased bone density are susceptible to fractures and other skeletal changes.
