Good Samaritan Will Be Offering A Healthy, Fun-Filled Night For Women

Good Samaritan is excited to present its women’s health fair this June. The Women’s Wellness Expo, previously called Spring Screenings, will take place on June 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Highland Woods Community Center in Vincennes. Free health screenings and health information will be offered, along with fitness demonstrations by Elements Yoga and Wellness Studio and the Vincennes YMCA, and shopping opportunities with different vendors of interest to women.

Performing around 450 free screenings last year at the women’s event, Good Samaritan decided to add some more fun to the evening to draw in women who maybe have never attended before. “Over the last several years this health fair has featured the same screenings and health information, so last year we incorporated some fun activities that the women seemed to really enjoy. This year we are excited to bring back the fitness demonstrations,” said Tiffany Conover, Director of Marketing at Good Samaritan. “Women so often put the needs of their family before their own, and this revamped event gives them the opportunity to not just get a check up on their health but to have a fun night out.” In addition to the screenings, fitness demonstrations and shopping vendors, delicious hors d’oerves will be served and prizes will be awarded throughout the night.

There is no appointment necessary to attend the Women’s Wellness Expo. The free health screenings include bone density, blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol (LDL and HDL), colorectal take-home kits, glomerular filtration rate (kidney function) and more. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours before these screenings is recommended, but not required. Multiple hospital department booths will also be available offering information about certain health risks women face.

“We are looking forward to this year’s women’s event,” said Rob McLin, Good Samaritan President and CEO. “We want to provide needed health screenings to the women in our communities, but also want to make it a fun night that will hopefully encourage more women to come and take advantage of what we have to offer throughout the evening.”

Women of all ages are encouraged to attend this year’s Women’s Wellness Expo on June 19. To learn more about the event or to see the night’s agenda, visit gshvin.org/wellnessexpo.
