Hit the ground running for the 7th Annual Kids Triathlon at Gregg Park on July 25, beginning at 8:00 a.m.
Kids between the ages of 3 and 15 are welcome to enter this fun, high-energy
event taking place this Saturday.
The Kids Triathlon motivates and promotes kids and their families to incorporate
an active, healthy lifestyle. Good Samaritan, the YMCA of Vincennes and
Vincennes Parks and Recreation joined together for the seventh year to
sponsor the triathlon.
Swimming, biking and running in Gregg Park are the three events in this
triathlon. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. for the Iron division, 8:00
a.m. for the Sprint division and 9:00 a.m. for the Family division.
“I love all the events, but I’m really excited for swimming,”
said 6-year-old Kids Triathlete, Brooklyn Mikiska. “My brother is
doing the Triathlon with me this year, so I’m very excited for that
too.”
The Family division includes a 25-meter swim, 1/2-mile bike ride and 1/4-mile
run, while the Sprint division includes a 50-meter swim, 2-mile bike ride
and 1/2-mile run. The Iron division includes a 150-meter swim, 4-mile
bike ride and 1-mile run.
A family member is allowed to accompany children in the Family division
during each event. All events take place at Gregg Park. The cost is $20
per child and $15 for each additional sibling. Each child participating
will receive a 2015 Kids Triathlon t-shirt and medal, and if needed, financial
assistance is available.
Registration forms for the Kids Triathlon can be downloaded online at
