Good Samaritan Releases Name Contest Winner of Mako Robot

During Good Samaritan’s Meet the Mako open house, the winner of the naming contest for the new Mako robot was announced. The name Arthur, or Art for short, was chosen as the winner by
Orthopedic Surgeons Dr. Terry Fenwick and Dr. David Miller out of dozens of suggestions from employees at the hospital and members in the community.

The name was submitted by Melinda Carie, Clinical Pathway Coordinator for Good Samaritan’s Joint Replacement Center. “Joint Replacement surgery is a procedure that is referred to as arthroplasty,” said Carie. “I quickly thought of the name “Arthur” and decided to enter the contest.”

As the winner of the contest, Carie will receive recognition in Good Samaritan’s monthly newsletter and Facebook page. A $100 donation will also be made to the charity of her choice, the Donna Gayle Dashner Career Advancement Memorial Scholarship.
