Good Samaritan is offering a Women’s Wellness Fair this September.
The event will take place on Tuesday, September 1 at Highland Woods Community
Center in Vincennes from 7 to 10 a.m. and again from 4 to 7 p.m. (EST).
Because of the global pandemic, this year’s event will be very different
than before. “Many events and health fairs have been cancelled this
year due to COVID-19,” said Tiffany Conover, Director of Marketing
at Good Samaritan. “But we know how important these yearly screenings
are to the women in our community and did not want to take this opportunity
away from them.”
In year’s past, the event has brought in more than 350 women. In
addition to the free health screenings offered, other fun activities were
available such as cooking demonstrations, shopping vendors, fashion shows,
exercise tutorials and more. This year; however, will look very different.
In order to participate in this year’s event, women must make an
appointment online at
gshvin.org/wellnessfair or by calling 812-885-3336. The free health screenings will include bone
density, blood pressure, colorectal take-home kits, pulse oximetry, and
a lab draw that will test blood sugar, cholesterol (LDL and HDL), and
glomerular filtration rate (kidney function). All attendees will be socially
distanced and must wear a mask. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours before these
screenings is recommended, but not required.
“We have taken precautions to ensure a safe wellness fair for all
attendees,” said Rob McLin, Good Samaritan President and CEO. “We
encourage women to register for and take advantage of the free screenings
and health information.”
