Good Samaritan Offering Women's Health Fair

Good Samaritan is offering a Women’s Wellness Fair this June. The event will take place on Tuesday, June 8 at Highland Woods Community Center in Vincennes from 7 to 10 a.m. and again from 4 to 6 p.m. (EST).

Because of the ongoing pandemic, this year’s event will be similar to the 2020 health fair. “Last year we initiated an appointment process to limit the number of women for social distancing purposes,” said Tiffany Conover, Director of Marketing at Good Samaritan. “This year, we are doing the same process, but allowing some additional hospital departments to participate as well. Our annual health fairs are so important to the community and we want to offer these free services to those who need them.”

Different department booths will be available such as: Rehabilitation Center, Trauma, Breast Care Center, Stroke Services, Skin Spa, Center for Therapy and Sports Performance and more.

In year’s past, the event has brought in between 200 to 300 women. In addition to the free health screenings offered, other fun activities were available such as cooking demonstrations, shopping vendors, fashion shows, exercise tutorials and more. This year; however, will look a little different.

In order to participate in this year’s event, women must make an appointment online at gshvin.org/wellnessfair or by calling 812-885-3336. Registrations will be accepted until May 25. The free health screenings will include bone density, blood pressure, colorectal take-home kits, and a lab draw that will test blood sugar, cholesterol (LDL and HDL), and glomerular filtration rate (kidney function). All attendees will be socially distanced and must wear a mask. Fasting for 10 to 12 hours before these screenings is recommended, but not required.

“We have taken precautions to ensure a safe wellness fair for all attendees,”

said Rob McLin, Good Samaritan President and CEO. “We encourage women to register online and join us for free screenings and health information.”
