Good Samaritan Visitor Restrictions / Patient Screening

Good Samaritan is taking extra precautions to protect patients, employees, visitors and the general public following the Indiana State Department of Health announcing confirmed cases of Covid-19 (Coronavirus) in Indiana. This is the lastest update on procedures being put into place at Good Samaritan.

Access to Good Samaritan for patients are at these areas:

Health Pavilion

Monday – Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Emergency Department

24/7

Cancer Pavilion

Open for oncology patients only. Patients will be screened and an appointment will be verified.

Visitor Guidelines:

  • Emergency Room
    • One Visitor 16 Years or Older
      • Length of Visit: ER Visit
        • If inpatient admission, visitor may stay until 6 p.m. or for a 30-minute settling in period if outside of visitation hours.
  • Inpatient Visitation
    • Visiting Hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
      • One Visitor 16 Years or Older
        • Visitor may change throughout the day, but only one visitor per patient
          at a time in the facility.
  • Inpatient Rehabilitation
    • One Visitor
      • Visiting Hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
        • Discharge support planning and education per current unit policy. Visitor may change throughout the day, but only one visitor per patient at a time in the facility.
  • Patient with disabilities that may include, but not be limited to; altered mental status, physical, intellectual or cognitive disability, communication barriers or behavioral concerns, who need assistance due to the specifics of their disability may, have one designated support person with them to support their disability-related needs during their stay.
    • One Visitor 16 Years or Older
      • Length of Visit: Unlimited
        • Visitor may change throughout the day, but only one visitor per patient
          at a time in the facility.
  • Inpatient Surgery or Procedure
    • One Visitor 16 Years or Older
      • ​Length of Visit: May Arrive One Hour Prior to Procedural Time
        • Visitor may stay for the settling in time of 30 minutes if outside visitation hours.
  • Outpatient Surgery and All Other OP Procedures (Laboratory, Cardiology, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, etc.)
    • One Visitor 16 Years or Older
      • Length of Visit: Arrival to Discharge
        • Request that visitor stay in designated patient care area.
  • Suspected or Confirmed Positive COVID-19 Patients
    • No Visitors
      • Will adjust visitor requirement when patient tests negative.
  • Sudden Critical Event, Terminally Ill, Hospice or Imminently Dying
    • Limit Two People at a Time - Immediate Family and Significant Others
      • Length of Visit: Unlimited
        • Notify house supervisor for approval / appropriateness of visit for visitors under 16 years of age.
  • Pediatric Patient < 18 Years
    • Two Visitors 16 Years or Older
      • Length of Visit: Unlimited
        • Visitor may change throughout the day, but only one visitor per patient at a time in the facility.
  • Patient in Labor or Postpartum
    • Two visitors in the delivery room during labor process.
    • After labor only one visitor at a time in postpartum.
      • Length of Visit: Unlimited
        • Visitor may change throughout the day, but only one visitor per patient at a time in the facility.
  • Inpatient Behavioral Health
    • One Designated Visitor Per Stay
      • Visiting Hours Monday - Sunday 6 to 8 p.m.
        • Visitation outside of visiting hours allowed for discharge planning and education.
  • Outpatient Infusion
    • One Visitor
      • Visiting Hours: Arrival to Discharge
        • Must remain with patient or waiting room and wear mask.
  • Expected or Unexpected Transfer to Another Medical Facility Outside of Visitation Hours
    • One Visitor
      • Visiting Hours: Within the 60 Minutes Prior to Departure If Outside of Visiting Hours
        • Visitor may change throughout the day, but only one visitor per patient at a time in the facility.
  • Medical / Physician Practices
    • One Visitor
      • Visiting Hours: Throughout Time of Appointment
        • Must remain with patient or waiting room and wear mask.

Patients and visitors will still need to be screened before entering the hospital, provider offices and clinics.

General Visitation Policy

Good Samaritan has a patient-centered visitation policy with guidelines to protect your loved one’s health, safety, and confidentiality. General guidelines apply to all areas of the hospital and are listed below.

When Visiting Good Samaritan:

  • ­Always use the hand sanitizer before entering or leaving patient rooms
  • ­Never awaken a sleeping patient
  • ­To protect patient privacy, a code number is assigned to each patient upon admission. You will need to know this number in order to obtain information about your loved one over the phone. Families are encouraged to appoint one spokesperson to relay information.
