New Central Billing Office Now Open

Patients can now manage their medical bills at the previous Northside Pharmacy building on E. St. Clair Street in Vincennes as Good Samaritan is centralizing all of the patient accounts functions in one location. The new Good Samaritan Central Billing Office (CBO) is the combination of The Samaritan Center, Good Samaritan Physician Network and Good Samaritan patient account’s offices.

Having all Patient Accounts office staff in one location benefits customers in several ways. Confidential areas are available where CBO staff can work with patients to answer questions about their statements/bills and together establish a payment program. “We are always looking to make our practices more efficient and provide our customers the world-class service they deserve,” stated Rob McLin, President and CEO. “Offering a one-stop-shop for all billing needs will not only decrease confusion, but allow our patients to spend more time and feel comfortable discussing their medical bills with our staff.” To increase accessibility, a drive-thru window is anticipated to be open at the Central Billing Office by April 20th. This fast and convenient service will allow patients to pay their medical bills without leaving the comfort of their vehicle.

The move to the new building creates additional space for patient care services and lessens parking problems on the main campus. “This is a great opportunity to centralize our patient accounts staff, streamline our operations and improve our service to our patients,” stated Rob Zigenfus, Director of Revenue Cycle. “This move allows us to better serve our community by eliminating occurrences of repetition through evaluation and redesign our claim generation process and payment posting.” Early in 2014, Good Samaritan brought in ClaimAid to assist patients with applying for enrollment in health plans and assistance. This service has been very well utilized by the community and will continue to be located at the main campus of the hospital. Additionally, there will still be a cashier in the hospital available to take payments. Zigenfus added, “While we see opportunity in moving to a CBO model, we recognize there are some services which are important to offer to our patients on campus; so as long as there is a need, we will have representatives on campus for the patients.”

The Central Billing Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Staff members from Good Samaritan, Physician Network and Samaritan Center will initially continue to work on their facility specific operations; however, employees will also be cross-trained on each of the different systems to make the integration to one system easier for patients and staff. “We have a highly trained and experienced team of individuals in patient accounts who have worked in three separate areas; our goal is to bring all the talent and skill together and make one great CBO”, Zigenfus said.

An open house is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2015 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Centralized Billing Office at 1160 E. Saint Claire Street, Vincennes, IN 47591. The public is invited to attend.
