Two-Day Parkinson’s Awareness Events to Promote Movement, Education, and Community Support in Vincennes

The YMCA of Vincennes and Good Samaritan are partnering to host two special events dedicated to enhancing the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s Disease and their families. Together, these events will offer education, exercise, and encouragement for those impacted by Parkinson’s in the community.
The first event, an educational session, will take place on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Good Samaritan. This free program will provide valuable information, resources, and discussions to help individuals and caregivers better understand and manage Parkinson’s Disease. Lunch will be provided for attendees, and registration is free.

“Through events like these, we continue our mission to enhance the lives of individuals with Parkinson’s and their families,” said Joy Uy, Good Samaritan Senior Therapist (PT/OT), Rehabilitation Physical Therapy. “Education and support are essential parts of helping people live well with Parkinson’s.”
The second event, the Parkinson’s Awareness Event, will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Gregg Park near Rainbow Beach in Vincennes. This family-friendly morning will feature a variety of engaging activities designed to inspire movement and connection.
Saturday’s event highlights include:
- 🥊 YMCA ROCK Steady Boxing demonstrations
- 🏋️♀️ Stretching with Sticks and Warm-Up with Clothespins
- 💪 BIG and PWR Moves circuit training samples
- ❤️ Power Through Parkinson’s Support Group activities focused on exercise as medicine, brain health, and emotional wellness
- 🚶 Community Mile Walk/Run – complete one mile at your own pace, your own way
The event will also include free refreshments, a family-friendly atmosphere, and opportunities to connect with local Parkinson’s resources.
