Good Samaritan is inviting patients, family members, and community representatives to apply for its newly established Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC), a patient and family centered council designed to strengthen collaboration between those served by the hospital and the health care team.
The Patient Family Advisory Council exists to ensure care at Good Samaritan is safe, high-quality, patient-centered, and reflective of the needs, values, and lived experiences of the community. PFAC members will provide meaningful guidance, feedback, and partnership to help shape policies, programs, and improvement initiatives across the organization.
The creation of PFAC follows the sunset of the former Patient Family Engagement Council (PFEC). As health care continues to evolve, Good Samaritan is enhancing how patient and family perspectives are integrated into safety, quality, and experience initiatives. While PFEC focused on engagement and dialogue, PFAC members will take on a more active and in-depth role by collaborating directly with organizational committees, councils, and project teams.
“Our Patient Family Advisory Council brings the patient and family voice to the front line,” said Cassie Abel, Director of Patient Experience at Good Samaritan. “PFAC members help us understand what’s working well, what’s confusing, and where we can improve. Their insight ensures patient and family perspectives are embedded throughout our organization and aligned with our mission, vision, and values.”
The council’s areas of focus include improving patient experience and satisfaction, identifying opportunities to enhance safety, accessibility, and quality of care, and serving as a consultative resource for organizational leadership and improvement teams.

Good Samaritan encourages individuals with a passion for improving health care and sharing their experiences to consider applying.
