Good Samaritan Offers New, Direct Access Physical Therapy Service

There are many instances in which patients are in need of physical therapy (PT), but do not have a physician referral. This will no longer be an issue, thanks to Good Samaritan’s Physical Therapy.

The Physical Medicine Department at Good Samaritan now offers direct access to patients seeking PT without a physician referral. Patients can receive treatment for up to 24 calendar days.

“The state of Indiana tried to get this program for many years. It was an ongoing challenge for therapists throughout the state. We are honored to have this program at Good Samaritan, and feel fortunate providing this service to our patients,” said Director of Physical Medicine, Tammy Klein.

Indiana was one of the last states given the opportunity to offer direct access for patients in need of physical therapy. Good Samaritan takes pride in providing excellent health care to patients and this new service will continue to express it.

Good Samaritan Insurance will cover per benefit guidelines. Other insurance will be called to determine coverage prior to evaluation. This excludes worker’s compensation, Medicare and Medicaid, primary or secondary insurance.

For more information, or to schedule an appointment, call the Good Samaritan Physical Medicine Department for a PT evaluation appointment at 812-885-3011.
