“On September 13, my husband and I walked through one of the scariest experiences of our lives,” says Sarah Morrison.

While traveling home from an anniversary trip, Sarah and her husband learned their 12-year-old daughter, Lilah, had been rushed to the Emergency Room at Good Samaritan with severe abdominal pain. “This all happened as we were boarding our first flight home, leaving us in the agonizing position of being unreachable.”

By the time they landed, Lilah had been diagnosed with acute appendicitis. “Dr. Mohammed Ismael, her surgeon, personally called to speak with us,” Sarah recalls. “Together, we made the decision to proceed with surgery.” The timing made the situation even more terrifying. “Her surgery took place while we were midair, completely unable to be informed of the events taking place.”

Then came the news every parent hopes for. “By the grace of God, when we landed, we received the most beautiful update — her surgery was complete, and she was doing well.”

Sarah credits the entire Good Samaritan care team for guiding her family through an unimaginable moment. “From the ER staff who triaged her quickly and relieved her pain, to Dr. Ismael, who treated her like his own, to the nurses who cared for her so tenderly — words cannot express the gratitude we feel.”

“This experience was terrifying,” Sarah says, “but it also reminded us how incredibly blessed we are to be surrounded by such extraordinary people.”

Today, Lilah is healing well. “Our little, giggly, sunshine girl is recovering beautifully,” Sarah shares, “and it’s all thanks to her amazing team of caregivers at Good Samaritan.”
