About Karan
Originally from Ontario, Canada, Karan moved to Virginia after high school. He attended Virginia State University, earning his undergraduate degree in Clinical Neuroscience. He won the Virginia Tech Adaptive Brain Behavior award for his research into using biomarkers in traumatic brain injury (TBI) and is the author of two peer reviewed publications. He has a strong community mindset, having volunteered with patients undergoing rehab for TBI, as well as with homeless people in Roanoke through the Rescue Mission. His interest in anesthesia comes from wanting to care for patients in some of their most vulnerable times, like undergoing surgery. In his free time, Karan has an interest in personal health and fitness, spending time weight lifting and running.
